Chronicles of Ori by Harmonia Rosales

Chronicles of Ori is Harmonia Rosales's debut book and a sweeping retelling of African myths centered on the relationship between humans and the Orishas, the powerful deities who created humanity and gave each person an ori, or destiny. The interconnected stories move from the birth of the universe to the founding of Yorubaland and ultimately into the era of colonialism and resistance.

Among its central figures are Oduduwa, the founder of Yorubaland, and Eve, a young woman born into a world marked by violence who seeks to restore what her people have lost. Along the way, the narrative introduces gods, spirits, serpents, monsters, and other supernatural forces while exploring the complicated and sometimes fragile bond between divine beings and humanity.
